CRITICAL MASS

Dhawal Jain was invited to present his Graduate thesis, The Liminal Shift, by the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in the USA, for Critical MASS. Critical MASS is an annual event hosted by UNCC. Anton Garcia-Abril of studio ENSAMBLE (Madrid) and professor at MIT was the guest critic this year.

CriticalMASS started with a handful of graduate students wishing to build a dialogue of thesis work amongst graduate schools of architecture in the Southeast Region in 2002.  Since its inception, this student-led symposium has always strived to provide access for student projects to be seen by international and national architects and critics. These critics have varied over the past 14 years, from those interested in regionalism to those that were launching practices on a more global scale. CriticalMASS has fostered a tradition of collaboration and exploration across schools of architecture.
